Schedule:

Session 1: 6 July (Fri): 7:00pm-9:30pm
Intro to Qigong for Yogis – The Gift of Energy

Qigong is an ancient Asian system of health and self-development. Slow circular, repetitive movements invoke a sense of inner peace and relaxation. Learn to cultivate and manage a high grade of Energy. Special emphasis will be placed on intention, alignment and Taoist “natural breath”. This class builds strength, grace and calm. Suitable for all levels.

The Qigong practice puts emphasis on smooth transitions while being simultaneously deeply grounded. Today’s heavily emphasized on Vinyasa flow classes can sometimes be a great workout, but missed the deeper rooted energy that came from the ancient Yoga practice. The Qigong element will help you tap into that profound energy in a very real way, so that your Prana or life force is not just some mystical idea, but a real sensation that can be felt here and now.

Session 2: 7 July (Sat): 10:00am-12:30pm
S.E.A Yoga Extended Flow – Stoking the Fire

This class will cultivate strength and warmth in the centre or "Core". Moving from the centre or "inside out" creates a unified energy field that strongly supports, nourishes and integrates your yoga practice on and off the mat. This practice combines Hatha Vinyasa Yoga, Qigong, and Tai Chi that is at once accessible and powerful.

Session 3: 7 July (Sat): 2:00pm-4:30pm
Yoga – Tai Chi Fusion – Root and Sky

“When I let go of who I am, I become what I might be.” Lao Tzu 

This class is the next evolution taken from two of Matthew’s popular Acacia & Mastadon releases: Yoga Tai Chi Fusion & Tai Chi. Matthew teaches his blend of Yoga and Tai Chi, using breath and intention; stillness and motion. Yoga emphasises the linear and the circulation of Tai Chi. Yoga reaches to the sky, while Tai Chi sends roots deep into the Earth. This workshop offers gifts from these great traditions as well as strength, flexibility, grace and power.

Tai Chi is the most practical Martial Art in the world. Its benefits are included: grace, balance, reduce stress, increase range of motion, functional strength, body intelligence, bone density and more. The added element of Tai Chi brings a profound intelligence and energy awareness to one’s yoga practice. 
 

Session 4: 8 July (Sun): 10:00am-12:30pm
S.E.A Yoga Master Class – Balance and Flow

“In balance there is movement, in flow resides stillness — the interplay, the dance, is where things get interesting, beautiful, and alive.” ~ Sifu Matthew Cohen 

This introduction to Sacred Energy Arts will focus on building strength and grace; emphasis will be placed on cultivating stillness in motion, movement in meditation and the breath. This moving balance practice encourages and invokes seamless and fluid transitions from one Asana to the next.

Meditations – The Art of Focused Attention

This workshop focuses on various meditations from China & India. We will explore lying, sitting, moving and standing meditation. These practices build mindfulness and energy in many different positions and with a wide variety of movement. Meditation is a very effective way to reduce stress, calm the nervous system, helps to balance and harmonise destructive emotions, sharpen the senses and promote glandular and radiant health. Use of straps, blocks and blankets will be shown and encouraged for maximising benefits. Students are encouraged to take notes and ask questions to bring the knowledge to their personal practice.
