FULL TRAINING DESCRIPTION & TEACHERS
Sifu Matthew Cohen is the founder and creator of Sacred Energy Arts: a unique, integrated system of health and self development drawing from the teachings of yoga, qigong, and martial arts. Matthew developed this method after discovering that even though yoga, qigong, and the internal martial arts each stand alone as great health systems, that something powerful and transformative emerges as the practices join. Together they compliment each other to create a complete practice.
Matthew has been fully immersed in the study and application of Martial, Yogic and Healing Arts for over 30 years. He is based in Malibu, California and travels internationally teaching workshops, intensives, and teacher trainings.
Christopher Chapple - The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
In less than 200 short statements, the Yoga Sutra conveys an analysis of reality, prescribes healthy behavior, suggests dozens of meditation techniques, and describes what it takes to be competent, beautiful, and free. Over the course of three mornings, we will chant, explore, and discuss Patanjali's masterwork, which serves as the roadmap for spiritual practice in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Sufism, and, increasingly, for seekers worldwide.
Christopher Key Chapple is Doshi Professor of Indic and Comparative Theology and Director of the Master of Arts in Yoga Studies at Loyola Marymount University. A specialist in the religions of India, he has published more than 20 books and 150 scholarly articles. He and his wife Maureen trained in classical Yoga at Yoga Ananda Ashram in Amityville, New York, from 1972 until 1985, when they moved to Los Angeles. Chris is registered as a 500 Hour E-RYT with Yoga Alliance and has trained Yoga teachers at the Hill Street Center in Santa Monica as well as through the M.A. program at LMU.
Dr. Eden Goldman - Yoga Anatomy
Using powerpoint, photographs, drawings, x-rays, live demonstrations, body observation techniques, muscle testing, hands-on interactive anatomy clinics, and therapeutic Yoga asana practice, we will explore the anatomy, biomechanics, and movementology of our joints and muscles while providing both Eastern and Western perspectives on harnessing our bodies’ innate potential through Yoga.
Dr. Eden Goldman, D.C., C.Y.T., E-RYT500, is the Director of Yoga and Mindfulness at the Waldorf Astoria La Quinta Resort in the Palm Springs area and Director of Loyola Marymount University’s acclaimed Yoga and the Healing Sciences Program in Los Angeles, CA. I feel very lucky to have taken Sifu Matthew Cohen’s teacher training and have had the privilege to assist his teacher training many times since. Matthew's teaching draws from multiple methods and wisdom, delivering rich knowledge. His teacher training offers a full range of teaching skills, and I consider his training to be one of the "must take" trainings if you want to become an excellent yoga teacher! ~ Sean Ren, Yoga Teacher, China
Matthew is a master teacher who has a rare capacity to reach people exactly where they are, whether they are beginners or long time practitioners. He brings a wealth of lived experience to his teaching that is palpable and offers this wholeheartedly to his students, each and every time he teaches in a way that is clear, direct, and authentic. Quite frankly, you can’t fake the funk, and Matthew is without a doubt, the real deal. ~ Celeste Young
Mathew Cohen is one of the most original, authentic, and truly spiritual teachers I have trained with. Matthew has touched my life profoundly with his spirit, dedication to teaching, knowledge and talent. I have been truly blessed to have taken classes and courses with him. ~ Anat Yifrah
When I began practicing yoga with Matthew eight years ago, as a dancer, I believed that I was fairly in-tune with my body. However, after my first two weeks of classes with Matthew, I felt like a completely different person. I’ve never before seen such a drastic shift—both physical and mental. The Sacred Energy Arts method has been revolutionary for me. ~ Jesse Holcomb
